What happened? Why are you recalling the product?
Two consumers in Japan have found small metal pieces in the padded section of the BABYBJÖRN babysitter’s fabric seat.  After further inspection of the 15 000 babysitters we have in stock, five small pieces of metal have been found in the padding. No incidents have been reported to us, but as safety is always our highest priority, we are undertaking a voluntary recall to repair.

What could happen?
A small piece of metal in the fabric might lead to someone getting hurt. If a metal piece were to be found in the fabric, its origin would be the padding, that is, the part of the fabric seat that goes around the steel frame. But there simply should not be any metal pieces in the fabric and that’s why we have chosen to perform this recall to repair, as a precaution.

Have you stopped production?
No, we have not. We have reviewed our routines to guarantee that all BABYBJÖRN babysitters are inspected before and after sewing, as well as before they leave our warehouse. As of June 24th, 2009, every fabric seat is scanned with a metal detector before it leaves the warehouse.

What steps have you taken to guarantee that this does not happen again?

Have you taken these Babysitters out of stores? 
The BABYBJÖRN Babysitters delivered to stores before June 24th, 2009 are taken back for inspection. Babysitters delivered to stores after June 24th have already been inspected. These have been marked with a small green sticker on their packaging (if the packing has been removed, see following information).

No, we do not. No other products are affected.
